- On Saturday, September 22, Tropical Storm Kirk formed at 8.3°N, making it the lowest latitude at which an Atlantic named storm has formed since 1902.
- Washington DC: On Monday, September 24, the city received enough rain to push the monthly total to 8.54″. That’s more rain this September than the last 5 Septembers combined, and makes it the 6th wettest September on record.
