Women in Weather: Kelly Cass

This week we are celebrating the wonderful women at The Weather Channel! Not only are they strong and smart scientists, but they are also an inspiration to millions of females who are in, or will be, working in STEM fields.

Kelly Cass is an on-camera meteorologist at The Weather Channel who first appeared on air at the network in January 2000.

Before joining The Weather Channel, she was the morning weekday meteorologist at WRGB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Schenectady, NY, a position she held for seven years. While working at WRGB, she was awarded the New York State Broadcasting Award for “best storm coverage” during the blizzard of 1993. She began her career as associate producer and later, weeknight weather weathercaster at WTZA-TV (now WRNN), an independent station in Kingston, NY.

Among her special reports for The Weather Channel, Cass has presented a feature about being selected for a flight in an F-A 18 jet of the Blue Angels unit of the U.S. Navy.

Cass earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Adelphi University. She also holds a certificate of international study from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. 1. @kcass, how awesome is that for you to dexterously assimilate the bounty of data and to share it impeccably?! That is your secret talent in my opinion. I enjoy your juicy tid bits on respective cities. Knowledge is power. I wish that females interested in weather come to you as their teacher. You are not only a perfect example of that but also a wonderful mother of three kids. Overall, you are TWC’s version of Superwoman. [FYI: I would love to see you dress up as Superwoman for Halloween this year.] Way to go, Kelly! #girlpower 😀
