Forecasting Hope Charity Auction Raises Money for Disaster Relief

Starting on Thanksgiving Day, The Weather Channel launched a brand new charity campaign, Forecasting Hope, to raise money for disaster relief.  Three and a half weeks later, the first ever charity auction from The Weather Channel has closed and, well, the campaign was a rousing success!  Fans like you bid on items such as signed Jim Cantore hats, boots from Stephanie Abrams, a personalized weather forecast from Maria LaRosa, and so much more!  Because of you and your tremendous support, we we able to raise $66,678 in the auction alone.  The Weather Channel also ran an employee fundraiser which generated over $11,000, bringing the Forecasting Hope total to more than $77,000!

We’d like to offer a HUGE thanks to everyone who participated in the auction, whether you were lucky enough to walk away with an item or not.  We also appreciate everyone who spread the word and told their friends and family about the auction.  We hope you had fun and enjoyed the opportunity to give back to a good cause!

If anyone is interested in contributing to any of the organizations aided by Forecasting Hope, you can donate to the following:

The American Red Cross

Team Rubicon

Save the Children

Bridge to Hope

United Way Bay Area

Hispanic Federation

Greater Houston Community Foundation

Additionally, due to the recent wildfires in southern California, we also appreciate any support that can be given to relief efforts such as:

California Community Foundation

  1. Dr. @twcerikanavarro and @haleybrennan, I would like to see The Weather Channel hold not only another auction but also a telethon next year. The goal from both events combined should be $1 million with ALL proceeds going to disaster relief. Does it sound like it is a terrific idea?! Please let me know. #twcmembershipdrive 📰💵😎
