Blinded With Science

I am a child of the 80s. I love the 80’s music and actually remember when MTV played music videos. It was awesome. One of the most iconic artists of that era was Thomas Dolby. His classic song “She Blinded Me With Science” transcends generations. I always noticed weather and climate imagery in his songs but when my University of Georgia colleague Dr. John Knox mentioned that we should have him on Weather Geeks based on some things he read in Dolby’s book, I said……hmmmmmm.

Dolby, is now an academic colleague at Johns Hopkins University, so I found a way to reach out to him. He joins us on Weather Geeks Sunday. You will be surprised at his various ties to weather, climate, and science. You will also be stunned to learn his role in inviting “ringtones” and other Silicon Valley technologies for the Internet. Our discussion of how weather inspired some of his lyrics is priceless.

And his stories about his boat-based, renewable energy powered recording studio and “Flat Earth” CD are worth the time in their own right.

You might even get to hear some of his music.

Join us for an all-new episode of Weather Geeks this weekend. The show always airs Sunday at Noon ET (11 am CT, 10 am MT, 9 am PT) on The Weather Channel.
